Texture of Life

Intricacies of form and feel. Walking through a living landscape is a
dream for creative creatures. Wood grain worlds. Ever changing cloud
patterns. Valleys and canyons patiently sculpted by water & waves
& wind. The natural world is a gigantic, glorious canvas that
changes every single day…morphing and emerging through eons. We are a
part of this incredible artistic sculpture…an exploration through
texture, pattern, power, and place. Impermanent beauty glows with the
shifting light and is captured onto canvases in our art studios.

“Nothing is absolute. Everything changes, everything moves, everything revolves, everything flies and goes away.”

— Frida Kahlo

I love capturing texture in my artwork and letting it emerge in
different ways. My photography collection lends me inspiration from
around the globe. As I carve into linoleum I can mimic sculpted sand,
sun rays, cottonwood trunks. I drag my paintbrush across my canvas to
create ripples, mountain valleys and leaf patterns. My brayer pulls up
paint leaving textures of water deltas and the relief of sand after a
wave has receded toward the ocean.
